Oil Acrylic

Can i paint over an old oil painting with acrylic paint?
I remember hearing somewhere that the acrylic will peel off if applied over oil paint is that true? the oil paint is completely dried up....
If the oil painting is completely dry, the acrylic will adhere temporarily.
Though, given time (say a year or more) it WILL peel off.
You will also have some difficulty in its application.
For instance, if you dilute your acrylic with water at all, you will notice it starts to bead on the surface.
It's the same principal of oil floating on water.
You can put oil paints on top of acrylic, you can not put acrylic on top of oil.
Long story short, do NOT do it.
