Original Palette

Giclee vs. Original?
Will a giclee capture the texture of an original oil painting? I fell in love with the work of a particular artist on ebay (link below) who uses heavy palette-knife technique and was wondering if it would transfer? The description states it is hand-embellished.
Thank you!!

Well, at least it's a small edition. Most people who do giclee editions have edition sizes in the thousands. The small edition would be a huge positive if you were buying an original print, say an etching or a silkscreen. Unfortunately, this is not in any way an original print, it's a digital reproduction. Basically, a glorified poster. So in this case, the small edition size only means that the artist isn't an utter thief, like some (*cough*Thomas Kinkade).
"Hand embellished" only means the artist went in and added a few details with paint. Highlights, or something along those lines; surely not big strokes of impasto. In fact, you will probably be hard-pressed to find the embellishments.
Contrary to the other answers, I have seen giclee editions on canvas that have dimensional brushstrokes. I have no idea at all how this is done, possibly by a digital vacuum-forming that is then applied to the canvas and printed upon, or maybe there's a very expensive machine that does it all in one step. All I know is that it's possible. They typically sell for a lot more than $215 for a 24 x 36, though. So I would not assume that this is one of the 3D reproductions. It will probably be flat. But the color will be scary accurate.
Look, if you just really like the piece, it's not such an incredible ripoff at that price (though you should try to get it for less if you can). But don't buy anything giclee as an investment, because they're not going to go up in value. Their only value is decorative.
